Patch adhesive backing is a critical piece of equipment when creating a custom-made patch. A good patch adhesive should not only stick to the patch, but it should also be easily washable. Many fabric adhesives are available for a variety of textiles, including jeans and T-shirts. They come in bottles with a fluid formula and a small, wide tip for precision application. To apply patch adhesive backing, follow the directions carefully.

If you are applying the patch to a garment, test it first before applying it to your fabric. It may be necessary to test the adhesive on a small scrap of fabric first. Wait a few days to see if the patch will discolor after applying it. If the patch is not removed after the adhesive is completely set, you can remove it with a damp cloth or by using an adhesive remover. It can also be machine-washed on a delicate cycle on low heat. Using free shipping with a stamp can be a great option, but make sure to keep a close eye on tracking information.

For embroidered patches, iron on or patch adhesive backing should be used. If you want a one-time use patch, iron on backing is best. For other materials, such as polyester or Nylon, iron on backing will cause damage to the material. Leather, on the other hand, is a sensitive material and should not be ironed. When choosing a patch backing, consider the color and size of the fabric before you purchase it. A darker patch will reflect the cause in a better light.

Iron-on patches can also come with a plastic-like backing that is easy to remove once you are done applying it. While this type of backing is not as durable as other types of patch adhesive backing, it is still a great option if you want a patch that will be permanent. You can even use stitched patches to make them more permanent. If you want to be really bold and wear patches for an extended period of time, you can even choose a patch that is made of fabric.
